Where to put your Television
It often surprises me when I'm over at other people's houses and see where they have the television. They put it in the worst area of the room. Nothing flows properly, you don't get the best image and things just aren't right. I've tried to explain this to my friends, but they never listen. All I can do today is roll my eyes because you're missing out. I'll explain to you exactly where you should put your television for the best experience. Where are the windows and where is the sun? This is the question you have to ask yourself because it is important. The sun is going to shine in the window at some point during the day. Where it shines and for how long really depends on the seasons and the position of your house. If you live in the Northern hemisphere than you're going to have a lot of sun shining in your south facing windows for most of the year (vice versa in the Southern hemisphere). Personally I'm not a fan of making sunny rooms the room that I put my television in. The reason is that there is too much glare and that makes it difficult to watch television while it's still sunny. But if you have to put it in that room, try to pick the area of the room that receives the least amount of sun. You have to put a little thought into this because the position of the sun changes with the seasons. The sun will shine in the room in a completely different direction than in the summer. Put your television in the darkest area of the room. Basically you want it to be the only thing that admits light. *At this point don't worry about furniture. Furniture Obviously you are going to have to set up your furniture around this and some of it is going to face the television. You're going to have to put a little thought into this to make sure things flow properly. That means not having too many things in the way or making it difficult to enter the room. Play around for it over a few months and see what you come up with. |
